"The
Beauty of Women in Song"
From housewives who
needed a night to be with other adults to modern day professional
women: these are the ladies of Chaminade Women's Chorus.
They come from all walks of life and they love to sing.
Rehearsals
Chaminade Women's
Chorus rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings during the season from 7:00pm
to 9:00pm in the Appleton East High School Choral Room. The first
rehearsal is
held the first Tuesday after Labor Day. A break is normally
taken during the Christmas holidays.
New
Members Membership in Chaminade
Women's Chorus is open to all post-high- school females who enjoy
singing. Formal training is not required. Prospective members are
invited to attend private voice placements at 6:30pm with a prepared
solo of their choice on the first two Tuesdays in September. If
they do not have a prepared selection, a number can be chosen from our
community songbook.
Organization
Chaminade Women's
Chorus is incorporated as a nonprofit organization. It is
governed by an executive board which is elected by the
membership at
the annual dinner/business meeting in spring. The chorus then
holds only the necessary committee meetings during the summer to
prepare for the next season.
Music
Chaminade fosters an
appreciation for fine choral music by performing a variety of choral
literature. They continue the European and American traditions
of adult choral arrangements for women's voices by singing SSA or SSAA
literature. Selections annually performed are chosen from
classical, folk, contemporary, popular and jazz idioms from both
sacred and secular genres.
The constitution of
Chaminade Women's Chorus states that the object of the group is:
"To foster an
appreciation for good music in the community
and to give the women of the Fox Valley who enjoy singing
the opportunity to do so."
